A Month of Learning and Fun at Poplarville Public Library

The Poplarville Public Library is a hive of activity this month. Start the month with the Cookbook Club on February 1st, where you can share your favorite recipes. Don’t miss the Self-Defense Class on the same day, bi-weekly on Thursdays, a 6 week class 5:30 – 6:30 pm Feb 1, 15, 29th – a great opportunity to learn some valuable skills from Poplarville Police Department, Captain McClantoc. Also, every Tuesday in February beginning February 6 from 10:30 am – 4 pm will be Spring Storytime (story with a craft)

A Retreat for the Soul and Mind

First Baptist Church hosting Marriage Weekend – February 16 @ 6-9:30 pm, Saturday, February 17th @ 9-12:30 pm – $40 per couple includes food, sessions, book & guest speakers. Pay in advance at church office at 203 Main Street.  KidNow will be hosted at same time only in the Net $15 per child Grades K-5.

Poplarville 1st United Methodist Church Beast Feast 10th Annual Beast Feast at 1st Methodist Church on Saturday, February 17, 2024 @ 6 pm in the Church Fellowship Hall.   Free if you bring a wildlife dish or pay $10 for a ticket.

Join the “From this day Forward” Marriage Retreat at Oak Hill Church on February 23rd – 24th, 2024, a seminar designed to strengthen your marital bond with laughter, inspiration, and practical tools.

Beekeeping anyone?   Workshop on February 3rd @ 6:30 pm MSU PR Co. Ext. Service @ 204 Julia Street.   Guest speaker Mack Busby talking about Splitting Hives.  Call 601-403-2280 to RSVP.

Blueberry opportunity – Two opportunities to learn about blueberries in person February 8 from 9am to noon @ Forrest County Extension Office 952 Sullivan Drive Hattiesburg.  Webinar on Feb 15 from 1-2 pm.

Artistic Expression for Pet Lovers – If you’re looking for a unique Valentine’s gift, consider attending the Live pet portraits at BYM Sweetheart Fest at Barnyard Marketplace on February 10th. This event offers a chance to get a beautiful portrait of your furry friend.

Valentine’s Day –   February 14, 2024 –   Shop local and don’t forget flowers from Morgan on Main Florist for your Valentine!

Eclectic Cafe will begin serving BRUNCH February 4th from 10 am – 2 pm the first Sunday of each month.   Their menu will be different but will still have some of your favorite dishes!

The Hatchet House will be having a Party Rental Raffle beginning in February and ending March 31, 2024.  Tickets are $5 or get 4 for $20 for a chance to win a 1 hour party rental.  Stop by 607 S Main St to register.

Equestrian Adventures

For horse enthusiasts, Horse Haven is hosting the Spring 2024 Retreat #3 (Advanced Boot Camp Retreat) from February 12th to February 17th. This retreat offers a range of activities for both novice and experienced horse owners. Additionally, the TRIXIE CHICKS Trick Riding Clinic on February 22nd to February 23rd promises an exciting experience for those interested in trick riding.

Spring Showcase

The Spring Variety Show at the Brownstone Center for the Arts on February 29th features all PRCC Choral Groups and selected acts for a night of musical delight.

PRC Junior Master Gardeners – February 3, 2024 10 am – noon – Paint Birdhouses; 2/17/24 10 am – Noon – Seed Start; 2/24/24 9 – 11 am – Wildflower Bed Maintenance.  Join in the fun at 300 W McClendon Street
